The AIAG/VDA FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) is a structured method for analyzing and evaluating potential failure modes and their effects in product and process development. It is primarily used for risk mitigation and failure prevention in the design and production phases. With the addition of FMEA-MSR (Monitoring and System Response), it is also used in ongoing operations at the customer's site.

As one of the central tools of the Automotive Core Tools, FMEA is now established throughout the industry. In June 2019, the method was harmonized by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) together with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) and published as a uniform standard.

The harmonization of AIAG/VDA-FMEA has created a practical, internationally coordinated framework that significantly simplifies and standardizes the application of the method—especially in globally active companies in the automotive industry.
This seminar focuses exclusively on the innovations of the harmonized AIAG/VDA FMEA standard. Participants receive a systematic introduction to the new 7-step procedure, which is explained step by step and reinforced with practical examples.

The key differences compared to the previous 5-step FMEA method are compared and interpreted. This provides a clear comparison between the old and new methods, including specific recommendations for implementing the new requirements in the automotive industry.
Using practical case studies from everyday business life, you will deepen your methodological skills, learn to assess the effects of the new approach on relevant processes in your organization, derive specific actions from this, and apply them independently in the context of product and/or process development.

Seminar Content
  • Introduction and workshop overview
  • Theoretical foundations of FMEA
  • FMEA in conjunction with IATF 16949 and CSR requirements
  • Overview of the FMEA change

Our workshop uses practical examples to convey the new FMEA requirements in a clear and application-oriented manner under the expert guidance of a specialist. Participants learn step by step how the new requirements can be integrated into existing FMEA processes, how their implementation is evaluated, and how specific measures can be derived from them.
For your support, you will receive comprehensive seminar materials, tried-and-tested checklists, and detailed documentation that will serve as a valuable working basis even after the workshop.
